Reborning Your First Doll
Rooting Eyelashes and Sealing the Hair
Our last hair-related step will be rooting little Rosebud's
eyelashes with matching mohair. Lay a thin piece of hair over his
closed eye and insert the needle at an angle that will allow the
eyelashes to lay flat. Space the hairs thinly and evenly across
each eye from just inside both corners.

After I've rooted both eyes, I always thin the hair for a more
realistic appearance. Nothing says novice reborner like thick chunky
eyelashes!

Now trim the lashes off to an appropriate length. Our hair rooting is finished!

Now we need to seal the hair on the inside to make sure it doesn't pull
out when styled. Reborners use a variety of products for this,
but in my opinion, you can't beat good old Aleene's tacky glue.
(I have had bad luck with the quick drying variety peeling when
dry and recommend the regular brown bottle.) Squirt just enough
in to cover all rooted sections in a thin layer and spread with a paint
brush. Remember to cover your eyelashes as well!

Glue
on the inside of the head usually takes 24-48 hours to dry. When
the glue has dried it should be completely clear. If you wish to,
install any hair barrette magnets and pacifier magnets on the inside of
the doll's head at this time. (I use super strong neo-button
magnets from my local Michael's store.) Place a magnet on the
outside of the lips to hold the internal magnet in place while your
glue (E6000) dries.
You'll also need to cover the nose holes you drilled with a piece of
dark felt to prevent the contents of the head from being visible when
weighted. I use a small strip of black and a little E6000
glue. A paint brush handle works well to position the felt
correctly.

Allow all the glue to dry completely. Now we're ready to weight and assemble our baby!
